Hi everyone.
I'm currently trying to make a few new splash screens for my mod. It seemed strange to me that there are two tools that can convert .rix to .bmp and not the contrary, so I googled .rix format and apparently it can be read but not written. Can you confirm this? Mostly important: is splash screens format hardcoded, or there's a way to get the game read .bmp/.frm? (I already tryed to start the game with splashes in both .frm and .bmp : most psychedelic "show" since the age of Pink Floyd on...)

I found RIXBMP utility in your utility page... Do the characters <-> mean that it can convert .rix to .bmp AND .bmp to .rix?
I managed to run it, but apparently it does not read my .bmps... My first pc already ran win95, I'm not familiar with DOS programs... Any tips?

Hardcoded. But theres always a way to do so - to edit the disasm of the engine

Yes they do.

Well, run Rix_bmp.exe in commandline (Start -> Run -> cmd) without any parameters - it will print help info to the console.
Also feel free to post your further problems here if any.

Hey, I did it  )
For those who are not familiar with DOS:
Run the command line as explained by Spy...
Then type:
D:\rtob\RIX_MBP.exe D:\rtob\my.bmp D:\rtob\my.rix
D is my HD, rtob the folder where the converting program is, my is the image name. Yes, you have to specify both the input and output files paths.
I believed it was harder...

Good for you! You`re welcome.
The way Sirren tried will work but I have a handier solution:
1. Put your source image(s) in one seperate folder (create it if needed).
2. Run command promt (Start -> Run -> cmd)
3. Type in the command line:

cd <full_path_to_your_work_folder>
and hit Enter.
4. Now type
Код:
RIX_BMP <source_image> <dest_image>
Where the source image can be both .RIX and .BMP (depending on what you need to convert).
And the dest image must be your desired image.
Hit Enter once more and...
5. Thats it!
As you may see if you`ve done this way you don`t need to type the full path for every parameter any more.
Tips: If you want to convert .BMP to .RIX be sure your source .bmp is 8 bpp and 640x480 px.
