Hello,

I'm Balrog994 the Main Developer of the GemRB Project. GemRB is a Free Open Source Infinity Engine Emulator, in poor words, it can run games like Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, etc... on Linux/Unix, Windows, and MacOS X (planned).

Surfing through the net I found your MVE2AVI tool, and I must say we're really interested in your work, since I actually wrote a MVE Player for our Engine but it can't read all the known Movie Format, this because we're not able to find a proper documentation.
Now I'm getting to the point: We want to know if you can/want release the MVE2AVI tool source code, or at least give us a link where to find a good documentation. That will really help us, don't know if you're interested in that (but asking will not hurt )

So, I'll thank you in advance.

We're waiting for your reply,
Thanks Again

Open Source implementation of Infinity Engine - that would be great! Don't give up

As to sources of mve2avi, they cannot be of any use for your project. This program is just a screen-capturing utility. It simply catches DirectX calls from Interplay's MVE Player, not even knowing almost anything about MVE format.

There is currently only one MVE-related document on the net, one that was originally called mve-fmt (please, take into consideration, that this description contains several inaccuracies).

Judging from your CVS snapshot, you most likely have this document already. At least, you are using the source codes of SDL-based mve-player by the same unknown author.
The same souces were used by D2X Project - an Open Source implementation of Descent 2. People from D2X have extended mveplay in the way that it can play 16-bit MVEs (which Interplay used in IE-games).
I tried to compile their MVE-player from d2x-0.2.5 snapshot a while ago, and as far as I remember it work fine with both 8- and 16-bit movies. I think you can insert this player into your project with very little modifications.

Thanks for your help, I'll try to implement the D2X Project Code to our engine and see if it can really play Planescape: Torment movies.

Thanks :D
